Mango Woman

Here we are at 17 weeks.  I guess the Fletch is finally starting to grow a little!  My state park wardrobe of hoodies and fleece vests (I'm not complaining...best wardrobe ever) still disguise me nicely...so I'm still getting eye contact...not eye to belly.  I've moved over to some maternity shirts thanks to my generous mother and Kay, and I have one pair of pants left.  When I look at my regular clothes and think of packing them up I end up just wanting to get rid of them.  When you work outside and hike for a living things get torn and dirty.  Pants especially do not enjoy a long life when you're hunting for frogs and fish with toddlers.  I may just start over after this baby is borned.  Especially if Collette keeps bringing me these at work (OMG thank you!  I ate Dots and Bottlecaps and Nerds today!):

In other news, Leo, my...most special...chicken...laid an egg today!  She lays one pretty blue egg about once every three months!  "Nice work Leo.  Damn freeloader ".

This morning I woke up to Colin repeating the phrase "MANGO WOMAN" loudly, half asleep.  He spent most of last night researching a place to stay in Key West.  (Mango Woman is a Ween...song-ish...I was going to include a video but I won't even bother).  I guess the B&B is called the Mango Tree Inn or something...Anyway...we're going to Florida in February and spending several days checking out the Keys...ending in Key West.  We're both so excited about the opportunities that await...crocodiles, alligators, birding, fishing, snorkling, lying on the beach...and the food!  Last night I cracked my Flavors of the Keys cookbook to see what I could learn. First, of course, the Keys are famous for their limes, which look more like small lemons than anything else.  (Authentic Key Lime pie should be yellow, not green).  Also, there are no Key Lime groves on the keys anymore.  The islands are also famous for conch.  But the conchs have been overfished and can no longer be caught off US shores.  So the conch that you get to eat on the keys is most likely frozen and imported.  I haven't figured that one out yet. I miss the warm sun like whoa. Can't wait for this trip!

Thursdays are always pizza night at our house.  Sometimes we're lazy and order from Pope's (I love Hawaiian), but mostly I stop into Roma's, the local Italian deli, on my way home and get the fixins for a homemade pie.  I'll share our recipe tomorrow.

And...since I refuse to link to the Mango Woman "song", I'll leave you with southern tune instead:
